The Vision of this Blog

It is my hope that this blog will provide a place for the examination of Scripture by serious study and sincere expression.  It is not a place for arguments or canned responses.  I envision creative thought and original expression.  I would welcome responses that seriously want to open understanding of the Scripture.  Please do not quote anyone else except the writers of the Scripture.  If you want to read other authors to get ideas, I have no problem with that, but I am not interested in having you defend someone else’ ideas.  If you can’t own a thought or express an idea as your own then leave it alone.  I am not interested in name dropping.  I will not dialogue with a dead person.  As Paul says in Galatians – “But from those who were of high reputation (what they were makes no difference to me; God shows no partiality)” (Gal. 2:6a NAS)

This is not a place for judging people, only weighing ideas.  I am not interested in being politically correct.  If you do not agree that what is said is truly reflecting the meaning of a passage of Scripture, don’t get mad.  Stay cool and convince us with sound teaching of the Scripture.

We are not interested in starting with a theological view and then distorting Scripture to support that view.  We wish to first start with what the Scripture says and then go on to interpret what it means.

As you probably realize by now, we do not intend to prove what the Scripture says is right or wrong.  We only intend to discuss what is says and what it means.  If what is says offends you, or encourages you, you will need to take it up with the author of the Scriptures.  We are only trying to get at what the author wrote and what the author meant.

If you want your viewpoint to appear in this blog, you will need to email me.  I will decide if I think that your offering is in line with the above guidelines.  Please try not to repeat yourself.  Stay on topic and to the point.  I will return content to you for revision if I think that it is too wordy.  I am not interested in taking a vote on ideas, so thoughts that are already present in this blog will not be repeated again and again.

I don’t want to use over worn phrases that do not communicate.

This is my first blog.  I hope it will get better as time goes by.   I have limited time but would like to incorporate helpful ideas as we progress.
